The Board of Nursing issues opinions, position statements, or resolutions as to what constitutes safe nursing practice.  These statements are not regulations of the Board and do not have the force and effect of law but are issued as guidelines to licensees to facilitate the delivery of safe, effective nursing care to the public.

Nurses and employers are encouraged to use the Scope of Practice Decision-making Framework as a guide to making decisions on whether a task, intervention, or activity is in a nurse's scope; and the Delegation Decision Making Algorithm to guide whether specific nursing tasks may be delegated to nursing assistants.
