Nursing Students & Inactive Nurses

May apply to request a waiver to opt out of the 16-hour theory portion of a medication aide training program:

1. If you will be administering medications in a skilled nursing facility (SNF), assisted living center (ALC), or hospital complete this Application.
2. If you will be administering medications in any other setting complete this Application.

All applicants must complete:

• A four-hour clinical/lab portion of a medication aide training program;
• A competency evaluation using the Clinical Skills Checklist or an employer checklist; and
• A final exam administered by your training program instructor.

If you will be employed in a SNF, ALC, or hospital you must pass the Board's final exam and be registered as a medication aide. Review the Initial Registration requirements.
